Work directory cleanup after failed upgrade

Hi - I’ve been using PHPlist for a number of years on 3 websites I maintain. One of them has problemns with the number of files on it - around 35,000. My hosting company told me that they were mostly in the phplist directory structure.

On this particular site I’ve had a failed upgrade. Probably due to exceeding the “number of files” limit they impose on their base hosting option. This left a ZIP file for the upgrade and a lot of files under the “work” directory structure.
~/phplist/work/dist/phplist-3.6.15/public_html/lists/ has the following directories:
admin, base, config, js, styles, texts, updater. All of these with lots of files.

Can I prune this structure? If so, where - everything under the “work” directory?

I have no way on this website to back up the directory strurcture in case of problems, so I’d appreciate confirmation or otherwise of the safety/sanity of my proposed action

Thanks in advance.

@MalcolmJ Yes you can delete the dist directory and any zip file present.
This is used by the Updater plugin so the work directory needs to remain.
