Users who unsub by accident and try to resub are still blacklisted

Hi there! I’ve been using phpList for nearly a year now, and it’s working great for our music school’s weekly newsletter.

We have encountered one little problem, and I see a few threads from this back in 2015, but no solutions, so I’m hoping you can help us.

Occasionally, users unsubscribe by accident. I even did it myself one time. There’s a link in the “sorry to see you go” email to resubscribe, which takes you to the subscription page. The problem is even if users resubscribe, they’re still blacklisted and still unable to receive their newsletters. And if they don’t mention to me that they didn’t get the newsletter this week, I don’t know there’s a problem and don’t know to manually go in and take them off the blacklist.

How can I work around this problem so that people can resubscribe on their own?

Thanks for your help in advance!
Melissa

@MelissaWilliams When someone subscribes again they should receive a confirmation request email. That contain a link to confirm and only then will they be removed from the blacklist.

Thank you so much for this information. I was confused by the message I got when I tested this, because when I went to confirm, I got a message, “We already received your confirmation previously,” and there was no way to confirm. But it does appear that by visiting that page, I was reconfirmed. So it looks like everything is working as it should.
