REST API and attributes working?

I’m wondering what the state of play is regarding the REST API and attributes with phplist v3.

It’s page at https://resources.phplist.com/plugin/restapi says:

#### Known Bugs and Issues

  1. The API cannot handle Subscriber Attributes at the moment
  2. Certain actions in the API need to be passed through other plugins

but the phpList API Command Reference list once the plugin is installed makes extensive reference to attributes, leaving all this very confusing.

Could anyone clear this up for me?
I’ve tried a little code to get them going but not had any like making them work so far…
