Change in installation location not reflected in [UNSUBSCRIBEURL]

I installed phpList to the root of my sub-domain, instead of ‘/list’ and I have updated the config file with:

$pageroot = ‘/’ ;

However, my [UNSUBSCRIBEURL] placeholder still points to http://news.themusic.com/lists/?p=unsubscribe&uid=…

Is there another setting I need update?

This should be
$pageroot = '';

If you edit one of the fields on the Settings page without changing anything then I think that the new value of $pageroot will be used. Otherwise you will need to change them manually.
