Bounce Statistics Plugin

@duncanc I’d like to download the results but there are too many entries. Is there a query I can use or is there a way to filter per campaign or date?

@StevenSchlossman Which page are you referring to?

The bounced reasons page.

@StevenSchlossman I have created a test version of the plugin that tries to improve the performance when exporting. You can install it on the Manage Plugins page using the package URL

https://github.com/bramley/phplist-plugin-bounces/archive/export.zip

Please see whether that does have an effect on your exporting.

Also, as you asked originally, you can narrow down by domain. On the Bounce Domains page, each domain is a link to the Bounce Reasons page filtered for that one domain. The export on the Reasons page should also be only for that one domain.

[/quote]The export per campaign doesn’t list the reason. I’ll check out the zip file. Thanks!

I replace everything in the BounceStatisticsPlugin directory?

@StevenSchlossman Install it on the Manage Plugins page.

Is this correct?

@StevenSchlossman I do not understand what you mean.

You install the new test version of the plugin by copying the URL into the Plugin Package URL field on the Manage Plugins page. That will replace the existing Bounce Statistics plugin with the new version.

I didn’t understand this comment either. On the Bounce Domains page, menu Statistics > Bounce domains, the Domain name field is a link to the Bounce reasons page but just for that one domain.

I see the domains. I find the reason for the Bounce reasons to be helpful. I have 58058 entries. The export times out.

I see now that when I click the domain, the reasons are listed. For hotmail I have 13877 alone.

I’m trying to see why some subject titles have so many bounces compared to others.

What I’m trying to say is, I’d like to know the reasons by campaign.

Is that using the new version of the plugin or the original version?

But I think that the problem is having too many bounces to be able to meaningfully process. If you have been sending campaigns repeatedly to “bad” email addresses then there will be multiple bounces for the same email address.

I suggest deleting older ones, you can do that on the View Bounces page menu System > Manage bounces > View bounces then delete those older than 2 months.

I don’t think that the subject of a campaign should affect whether the email bounces. More likely is that the campaign content might be identified as spam.

I believe I over wrote the plugin with the new one.
The reason I think bounces have something to do with the subject is the ‘calendar’ all of the sudden has a lot of bounces.

2,096 Attend Bourbon Trail … Required!
2,106 NCC VDC Dinner Invite
233 Mid-June Calendar of Events
228 July Calendar of Events
1,802 Mid-July Calendar of Events
216 Register Today! BMW … Challenge
2,100 August Calendar of Events
257 Last call for our BM … Challenge
2,098 Mid-August Calendar of Events
227 MoCo Social date change

Never noticed the delete > 2 months. Even after deleting I’m left with 6931 and the export never loads. Maybe I should delete the plugin entirely and start over?

I realised that you also need to upgrade the Common plugin when using the new version of the Bounce statistics plugin. You can do that on the Manage Plugins page using the package URL

https://github.com/bramley/phplist-plugin-common/archive/master.zip

But even then it takes a very long time to export about 12,000 bounce reasons. I don’t know why but am trying to understand what is happening.

Oh so close. I get to 90% of 6931 then the dialog box disappears and no download.

@StevenSchlossman I have made some more improvements to performance. You need to upgrade both Bounce Statistics plugin and Common Plugin. On the Manage Plugins page use these package URLs

https://github.com/bramley/phplist-plugin-bounces/archive/master.zip

https://github.com/bramley/phplist-plugin-common/archive/master.zip

This supersedes the earlier test version. phplist exports 12,000 results in about one minute.

That did it! Now I can sort by message ID and reason to determine bounces. Thank you!
