Updater stuck with maintenance mode message

Updater began going to 3.4.5 and the message “Maintenance mode, try again in half hour” came up. That was over 12 hours ago.

  • If one of the required modules is not present, will it begin?

  • The action.txt file reads “{“continue”:false,“step”:16}”; does this signify anything?

  • How can I bring maintenance mode to a close?

Otherwise how do I update manually? Download and transfer as if it were a new installation? Does that lose all my work?
