I have a set of bounce rules that have worked very well to start cleaning up an ‘old’ mailing list with a lot of email addresses that don’t exist any more (several million email addresses). However, along the way we swapped the mail server and now the bounced emails, in particular for hosts that cannot be reached, contain all the bounce information in the “body”, not the “header” of the bounced email, and my case there are thousands of these. A good set of the bounce rules don’t seem to work anymore and my guess is its because the reason for the bounce is in the returned body. Any suggestions on how to handle this? Is there way to have the body of the returned email parsed? Or, am I missing something?
