I have been using the RSSFeed plugin successfully since it was available, but for the past week or so the getrss cron job has been failing to read the Wordpress feed at http://honesthistory.net.au/feed. Cron job reports “no change”.
That feed is being read and displayed correctly by Thunderbird, Firefox, and Chrome, but also is not read by Safari or Opera browsers, which show blank page but no error message.
There have been no updates that I am aware of. My cPanel platform is running PHP v.5.6 as standard, but when I tested with PHP 7.2 there was no improvement.
The only think I can think of is I purged out-of-date RSS items and I wonder whether the database indexing has got out of kilter with RSSFeed.
[2:30am is normal time to send daily RSS PHPList campaign]
However, the issue seems to have corrected itself since my original post. The processes ran correctly overnight 13/11/18. There had been these “timeout” messages over several days. I had not changed anything. Is it possible that some process at the hosting service could have affected the read process? Nothing in the cPanel logs indicates that.
@hhadmin Sorry but I don’t have any real insight as why the timeout was happening. You mentioned that Safari and Opera browsers had problems too so it does look like there was an intermittent temporary problem with the web site.
But glad that it is working again now.
